Judicial Philosophy

Experienced, Qualified, Trusted & Local

Everyone who enters District Court deserves to be

treated with respect and fairness.

Whether it is delivering justice to victims of violent crime or resolving a contested traffic ticket, our community deserves a Judge who understands the importance of local courts to the people of McCandless, Marshall, Pine and Bradford Woods.

I believe in a judicial approach that demonstrates a genuine consideration for the safety of the public and the rehabilitative possibilities of those who might come before me. While being tough on crime and focused on one's actions, I believe in alternative sentencing programs focused on education and opportunity. Addressing the contributing causes of crime, like mental illness and addiction, can reduce the chances of re-offending and help make our communities safer. As a Judge, I will remain committed to using treatment alternatives where it serves justice and the community. However,  I also understand the importance of justice for victims and I have the integrity and thoughtfulness to make the complex, important decisions required by a

District Court Judge.

AS YOUR MAGISTRATE,

I WILL WORK TO INCREASE THE ACCESSIBILITY OF THE
OFFICE BY ADDING EVENING HOURS.
I WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH THE POLICE, DISTRICT ATTORNEYS, DEFENSE
ATTORNEYS, AND VICTIMS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE COMMUNITY AND
PROTECT THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF THE ACCUSED.
I WILL WORK WITH SCHOOL OFFICIALS AND PARENTS ON ISSUES SUCH AS

TRUANCY AND HARASSMENT TO ENSURE THAT EVERY STUDENT

RECEIVES THE HELP AND SUPPORT THEY NEED FROM THE COURT

A Magistrate Judge is expected to be competent in the criminal, traffic, landlord/tenant, juvenile and civil matters that are brought before them on a daily basis. My 34 years as an attorney handling precisely those areas of law give me the requisite knowledge and experience to handle each of those matters on Day One.
